About Upside Down Text Generator (Flip & Invert Text)
The Upside Down Text Generator flips your sentences upside down and reverses letter order (ʇxǝʇ uʍop ǝpᴉsdn). A hilarious, mind-bending way to send playful messages, craft secret puzzle clues, and confuse friends in group chats.
How Unicode Powers This Tool
Our upside-down engine maps each Latin character to its inverted Unicode counterpart (e.g. 'a' becomes 'ɐ' U+0250, 'e' becomes 'ǝ' U+01DD) and reverses the string so that it reads naturally when rotating your device 180 degrees.

Upside-Down Font Styles
This generator shows your text upside down in many styles at once, so you can pick the look you like:
- Classic upside down: ǝpᴉsdn – each letter rotated 180° and the order reversed
- Upside-down bubbles: circled letters turned over
- Flipped cursive: script letters in reverse order
- Backwards fullwidth: wide vaporwave letters read from the end
If you only need plain upside-down text, our simpler upside down text tool converts a sentence in one box.
How Upside-Down Letters Are Made
Unicode has no “rotate” setting, so every letter is swapped for a different character that looks like it is turned over. Many come from the International Phonetic Alphabet: ɐ (turned a), ǝ (turned e), ɥ (turned h), ɯ (turned m) and ʎ (turned y). Some letters are their own reflection (o, s, x, z), and b, d, p and q simply swap with each other. Finally, the whole line is reversed so it reads correctly when you turn your phone around.
Best Uses for Upside-Down Fonts
- Playful Instagram and TikTok bios that make people look twice
- Jokes and pranks in group chats
- “Flipping” a word with the table-flip emoticon: (╯°□°)╯︵ ʞooqǝɔɐɟ
- Quiz answers and riddles that should not be read at a glance
- Gaming names that stand out in a lobby
Some capital letters have no perfect upside-down version in Unicode, so the closest look-alike is used. Lowercase letters give the most convincing result.
